WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT OPERATOR (Grade 3 or 4)

Monthly Salary Ranges:

Wastewater Operator Grade 3: $8,586 – $10,436

Wastewater Operator Grade 4: $9,536 – $11,591

The Carpinteria Sanitary District is seeking a motivated and resourceful individual to fill an open position within the District’s Wastewater Operations department.  We will consider State certified wastewater treatment plant operators with current Grade 3 or higher.  The ideal candidate will possess an Advanced Water Treatment (AWT) Operator certification through CA-NV AWWA and CWEA.

Opportunities for advancement and professional development are available, as the Carpinteria Advanced Purification Project (CAPP) is in the construction phase.  This project includes a 1.2 MGD advanced water treatment facility located at the District’s existing treatment plant site.  The selected candidate will be a key ground floor participant in this exciting potable reuse project.

Generally, wastewater treatment plant operator responsibilities include monitoring wastewater treatment plant processes, maintaining and repairing equipment and systems, performing routine laboratory tests, and other key tasks necessary to operate a state of the art wastewater treatment facility.  Availability for periodic “on-call” duty is mandatory.

Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED is required.  All applicants must possess Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certification from the State Water Resources Control Board at a level commensurate with the assigned position. The successful candidate must also pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical and background check.

ELECTRICAL & INSTRUMENTATION TECHNITION

Annual Salary Range:

Electrical & Instrumentation Technician: $105,200 to $127,871

The Carpinteria Sanitary District is seeking a skilled Electrical & Instrumentation Technician to help operate and maintain the advanced electrical, instrumentation, automation, and SCADA systems that support our wastewater collection, treatment, and recycled water facilities. The position’s responsibilities include maintaining electrical systems, PLCs, VFDs, telemetry, analyzers, and process instrumentation used throughout the District’s facilities.

The District is embarking on a landmark project to purify all its treated wastewater for indirect potable reuse. We are now in the construction phase of the Carpinteria Advanced Purification Project (CAPP), a project that includes a state of the art 1.3 MGD advanced water treatment facility to be located at the existing plant site. Overview of Responsibilities
In a small agency setting, the Electrical & Instrumentation Technician will maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems (up to 480V), motor control centers, variable frequency drives, PLCs and SCADA systems, industrial instrumentation, telemetry and communications systems. The position will support operation of existing wastewater treatment facilities, remote lift stations and the new advanced water purification facility. The position includes key participation in capital projects from development through construction.

Possession of a valid California driver’s license and a high school diploma or GED is required.  It is desired that applicants have the following certificates: CWEA Electrical & Instrumentation Technologist Grade I+, ISA CCST, NFPA 70E, CPR/First Aid, Confined Space, Forklift. The successful candidate must also pass a post-offer, pre-employment physical and background check.
